Just as Apple’s cloud-based music storage service has been said to be ready to go amid claims that Apple has inked two of the four major record labels to deals permitting the service, CNET now reports that Apple has reached a deal with Warner Music Group (WMG) in support of the plan.

Apple has an agreement with Warner Music Group to offer the record label’s tracks on iTunes’ upcoming cloud-music service, music industry sources said.

In the race to the cloud, Apple is apparently stepping on the gas. All Things Digital reported Thursday that Apple has signed two of the top four record companies. ATD reported that Apple content chief Eddy Cue was due to fly to New York on Friday to try and finalize agreements with the two labels that were still unsigned.

It is unclear whether Warner was one of those two that had previously licensed Apple or whether the label inked a new agreement on Friday.

The report notes that WMG is the third largest record label in the United States, joining Universal, Sony, and EMI in the group of major players that sets the tone for the industry. WMG may be the most important agreement, however, as the label has reportedly been the “fly in the ointment” that has caused both Spotify and Google issues in neogtiating their own music deals.

It is not yet known when Apple plans to introduce the new cloud-based service, but the company appears to be racing full speed ahead toward a launch.

Apple today once again lowered iPad 2 shipping estimates in many of its online stores around the world, now citing 1-2 weeks for new orders in those markets. Shipping estimates had peaked at 4-5 weeks, but a series of drops brought the window down to 2-3 weeks early this month, and the new decrease suggests that Apple is indeed getting its arms around the supply-demand balance for the popular tablet device.

The new 1-2 week estimates have gone into effect for Apple’s online stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand, but the company’s stores for European countries are still reflecting 2-3 week estimates. The company does typically maintain separate distribution systems for its North American, European, and Asian markets, making variations in shipping estimates not unusual, although it seems reasonable to assume that European markets should see similar improvements in iPad 2 availability going forward.

Update: Apple’s online stores for European countries are now also showing the updated 1-2 week shipping estimates for new iPad 2 orders.

Business Insider reports that Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has just released a new research note sharing data from NPD on Apple’s first quarter Mac and iPod sales in the United States. According to the data, Apple’s new MacBook Pro released in late February led to a tremendous surge in Mac sales during the month of March, with total Mac unit sales up 47% year-over-year.

That strong performance follows 20% year-over-year growth in January and 12% growth in February, yielding a cumulative year-over-year Mac growth rate of 27% for the quarter. Consequently, Munster estimates quarterly Mac sales at close to 3.7 million units, slightly ahead of Wall Street consensus estimates. Apple shipped just under 3 million Macs in its March quarter last year, a quarter that is usually one of Apple’s lighter sales periods following strong back-to-school sales in the September quarter and holiday sales in the December quarter.

On the iPod side, NPD’s data suggests quarterly sales of 9.8-10.3 million units, in line with Wall Street estimates and down 5-10% from last year as Apple’s maturing iPod line continues to shrink as consumers increasingly turn to the iPhone and iPad for their needs. Munster notes that the iPod data is somewhat less accurate than the Mac data, given the high international representation in iPod sales and NPD’s focus on only the U.S. market.

Apple is set to announce earnings this Wednesday at approximately 4:30 PM Eastern Time after the stock market close.
